The inspiration for this wine cabinet stems from a piece I crafted several years ago for my wife. Intrigued by its design, a client approached me expressing admiration for the cabinet and inquiring whether I would be willing to create a similar one for her. The foundational layout and specific requirements were conceptualized by my wife, serving as the guiding vision for this bespoke project.. The images below are the original design.

The materials employed in crafting this wine cabinet have a unique and storied origin. Salvaged from a high-rise bank building undergoing renovations to accommodate new tenants, the components were sourced from the discarded remains of walnut door frames, trim, baseboards, and more, which once adorned an entire floor. Remarkably, just in the nick of time, I managed to intercept the last dumpster bound for the landfill before it relinquished these reclaimed materials, giving them a second life in the creation of this distinctive piece.
The door frames, each measuring 2 inches by 6 inches and extending to a length of 8 feet, served as a substantial source of walnut for this project. A significant portion of this reclaimed walnut found its purpose in the crafting of a desk, contributing to a project that, unfortunately, was not detailed in the previous post, which has since been deleted. However, I anticipate providing more information and updates on the project in a subsequent post.
